A trick of translation
During a stay in Guadalajara, Mexico I listened to the sounds of the backyard of my hotelroom. Air conditioning systems, car engines, trains, traffic, people, all through the window of that room. The next day I went to a typewriter secretary who you can hire to get your documents and legal affairs properly typed and asked him to transcribe a report of those sounds. A translator had to help out because he didn't understand English. The result of his transcription is a sound poem which not only associates sound through phonetic interpretation but also represents meaning as a complicated and incomprehensible trick of translation.
